On 20 June, along with the publishing house a5, we celebrated the seventieth birthday of Adam Zagajewski, one of the most respected Polish poets. The evening was organised at the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology and was attended by friends of the poet: Anders Bodegård, Michael Krüger,Sebastian Kleinschmidt, Edward Hirsch, Janusz Drzewucki, Ryszard Krynicki, Jerzy Kronhold, Ewa Lipska, Leszek Aleksander Moczulski, Tomasz Różycki and Krzysztof Siwczyk. During the event Adam Michnik took part as a special guest. A documentary film about Adam Zagajewski by Joanna Helander and Bo Persson was screened. The celebration was combined with the publication of a unique bilingual commemorative book i cień i światło/both light and shadow, a comprehensive anthology dedicated to the poet’s work, enriched with texts by Polish and foreign writers, critics and translators.
